CCMA is preparing a fieldwork project in Crete for this summer

At the moment, the Czech Centre for Mediterranean Archaeology is preparing/organizing (together with Greek colleagues) the first season of the fieldwork project in Crete – The Porti-Miamou Project. It is focused on the surface documentation of all preserved architectural remains and the small-scale surface survey of the immediate vicinity of the two prehistoric (Minoan) sites in the Mesara area, south central Crete – for more information see the “Projects” section of this web.

The Porti-Miamou Project is one of a few archaeological projects in the Mediterranean with the official participation/cooperation of Czech scholars and the first and only one, which is co-organized by a Czech private academic institution.

A major part of the project funds is to be covered by a grant from the “Institute for Aegean Prehistory” (US foundation; 9 200 €), but another 7 000 € are needed for this year’s field season. We would be very grateful to all who would support this project by any amount.
