Petra Hečková is a founding member and the vice-chairman of the Czech Centre for Mediterranean Archaeology. At present she has been working as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Arts, University of Western Bohemia in Pilsen, and a manager of specialized EU-projects at the Faculty of Restoration at Litomyšl, University of Pardubice.
Petra Hečková graduated from art history (MA – 2003) and got her PhD. in the same field of study (2009) at the Palacký University, Olomouc. Her specialization is the architecture of the Roman imperial period and Late Antiquity. On the basis of her doctoral topic (Evaluation of the contribution of the Czech art-historian Vojtěch Birnbaum (1877-1934) to the knowledge of the development and interpretation of Ancient and Early Christian art) she has been dealing also with the history and historiography of the ancient Roman art and its receptions since the Medieval period until the present (history of collections, interpretations and museum presentations and exhibitions etc.).
